Kendric watched her slice oh-so-thin slivers of the man’s dick, and he drank in the werewolf’s pain, but not too much, because he knew his darling Becca would soon be doing so, as well.

Becca soon found a rhythm, where she’d cut a few paper-thin slices from his dick, and then move to his stomach, where she used various knives to cut away skin and muscle to make a damned picture of the flames of Hell. His lioness was a motherfucking artist with a knife, and he hadn’t seen it in her memories. What else had he missed?

She’d draw a beautiful lick of fire, etching it into his skin as he screamed and writhed, and she moved the knife to accommodate his squirming without fucking up her picture. When she finished that piece of fire, she changed knives and cut a few more paper-thin slices off the end of his dick. She changed knives again and went back to creating the picture on his abdomen.

At first, Kendric thought she’d gone to some happy place and she didn’t hear the werewolf’s screams, but he looked in her head and saw that she was taking in everything — his pain levels, his screams, his heartbeat, his breathing. She was even sensing the air as it came out of his mouth and analyzing it, though Kendric didn’t think she was consciously doing so, since it seemed to be happening in the background. Was her cat doing it? He thought the lioness might be helping the human monitor their victim.

And while she was ultra-aware of exactly what she was doing to her victim, she drank in his life force. Not as she’d done with Armando — it’d been as if she sucked his energy in with a straw, directly from his soul to hers. It was different with Lucius, as if she were a dry sponge, and the wolf’s energy was a light mist. She absorbed it all over without sucking it into her.

Kendric’s bloodline could drink pain and use it as power, but he’d never seen a shapeshifter drink an emotion, much less have so much control over how it was taken in.

He’d known she could do it, but now he looked in her power signature and her memories to see when the ability started. He expected it to have started in Hell, and the control over it did, but he realized that within months of her first rape, she’d learned to take the life force of insects, rodents, and reptiles while she slowly tortured and killed them.

She hadn’t realized she was doing it, she’d only known she felt better when she’d killed things, and she was smart enough to keep it to wild animals, small animals. No one missed them, as one would a pet, and the bodies were easy enough to get rid of.

These things tended to follow bloodlines, and a closer look at what happened when she was raped told him that her life force was taken from her while her great-uncle had brutalized her.
